American rapper Jay Z has taken legal action against Tony Buzbee, the lawyer who previously accused him of rape, claiming Buzbee tried to damage his public image by editing Wikipedia pages.

The issue began in December 2024, when Buzbee filed a lawsuit claiming Jay Z raped a 13-year-old girl in 2000. Jay Z, 55, strongly denied the allegation and accused Buzbee of trying to extort money from him.

“This lawyer seems to enjoy drama,” Jay Z said at the time. “I don’t know how you became such a terrible person, Mr. Buzbee. But I’m ready to deal with people like you.”

In February 2025, the case was dropped by the woman who filed it—known only as Jane Doe—without any settlement payment.

Now, Jay Z’s lawyers have filed a new lawsuit. They say that Buzbee and his team broke Wikipedia’s rules by editing pages to make Buzbee look good and harm Jay Z and his music label, Roc Nation.

The court documents claim that over 100 edits were made to Buzbee’s own Wikipedia page from computers linked to his law firm. These edits, the lawsuit says, were done to improve his image while spreading negative information about Jay Z.

The lawsuit also claims that after the original rape case was filed, media reports suggested business partners might cut ties with Roc Nation. Jay Z’s team says this was exactly what Buzbee wanted—to pressure the rapper into paying a settlement out of fear for his reputation.

Jay Z’s legal team also revealed the financial impact of the situation. They said he lost $20 million in income, was denied a $55 million personal credit line, and a company linked to him was refused a $115 million loan.

The lawsuit did not give specific examples of what edits were made to Wikipedia.
