Nollywood actress Jemima Osunde has expressed frustration over what she described as persistent disregard for traffic rules by some motorists in Lagos.
The actress recounted an encounter with a driver who allegedly left his lane to beat traffic and began driving against the approved flow of vehicles.
In a video shared online, Osunde said the motorist entered a lane being used by vehicles heading towards Lekki and apparently expected other road users to make way.
She, however, refused to leave her lane.
“I will not leave my lane for you when you are passing one way. I won’t do it. I don’t care if you have police in your car,” she said.
Osunde maintained that heavy traffic was not an excuse for motorists to endanger others or ignore traffic regulations.
“I’m sick of Nigerians just doing anyhow, as if Lagos is not congested enough, without you passing one way and breaking traffic lights,” she added.

Osunde’s complaint touches on a wider road-safety concern in Lagos, where driving in a prohibited direction is treated as a serious traffic violation.
Lagos traffic authorities list driving in a direction prohibited by road traffic regulations among offences punishable under the state’s traffic enforcement framework.
The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, LASTMA, was established to improve traffic flow and reduce road accidents across the state, making compliance with traffic directions a key part of its enforcement responsibilities.
For Osunde, however, the issue went beyond avoiding a confrontation.
She said she would rather remain in traffic or arrive late at her destination than cooperate with a motorist allegedly breaking the rules.
The actress added that emergency vehicles would be the exception.
“Unless you’re an ambulance or a fire truck and emergency service, I will not leave my lane for you when you’re passing one way. I won’t,” she said.
Her comments have once again put attention on the everyday frustration caused by motorists attempting to bypass Lagos traffic through illegal manoeuvres.
