Nigerian music star Timaya  has stirred heated reactions online after a video surfaced showing him sharing a blunt opinion about marriage.

In the now-viral clip, the “Dem Mama” hitmaker was seen hanging out with fellow music stars Paul Okoye and Phyno when the conversation turned to relationships and settling down. During the discussion, Timaya advised men not to stress themselves about marriage but instead focus on having children.

According to the singer, men should simply have kids and move on with life rather than worrying about the pressures that often come with marriage.

“Just born pikin. Pikin go grow. This marriage thing no dey work,” the singer said in the clip that has since circulated widely across social media platforms.

The comment immediately sparked mixed reactions online. While some social media users laughed at the singer’s blunt advice and said he was simply being realistic about modern relationships, others strongly disagreed, insisting that marriage still works when both partners are committed.

Timaya, whose real name is Inetimi Alfred Odon, is a popular Nigerian singer known for blending dancehall and Afrobeats and has been active in the music industry for nearly two decades.

The singer himself has previously hinted that marriage might not be for him. In earlier remarks shared online, he suggested that he might never get married, a stance that has often sparked debate among fans.

As the video continues to trend online, many Nigerians are sharing their opinions, with some describing the singer’s statement as controversial while others say he simply voiced what many people secretly think about modern relationships.
