Retired NBA star LAMAR ODOM has left a Los Angeles rehabilitation centre after completing a 30-day treatment programme for substance use, US entertainment outlets reported this week. The 46-year-old former Lakers forward entered the facility following a DUI arrest earlier this year, and his representatives confirmed he completed the full month-long stay on February 25 with the intent to make significant changes in his life.
According to his team, Odom went into rehab to address ongoing marijuana use, which he feared could escalate into heavier drug use if left unaddressed. His representative said he now wants to “stop smoking marijuana completely” and “reset,” emphasising that he feels good physically and mentally after the programme. During his stay at the iRely Recovery centre, Odom focused on sobriety and personal improvement, marking a determined step in his long-standing journey of recovery.
Odom’s decision to seek treatment came after he was pulled over in January and charged with driving under the influence, according to reports. While he maintained that alcohol or other drugs played no role, police said his vehicle smelled strongly of marijuana and that he admitted to smoking earlier that day. The rehabilitation stay was part of his effort to take responsibility for his health and life choices.
Following his release from rehab, Odom is said to be focusing on new ventures, including a business project aimed at connecting people to wellness and treatment services. This move comes as he continues rebuilding his life after past struggles with addiction, including a widely publicised overdose in 2015 and earlier legal troubles.
