In a recent interview with VJ Adams, Nigerian comedian Sabinus (real name Emmanuel Ejekwu) confessed that his father regretted ever funding his university education once he found out Sabinus had turned to comedy and skit-making instead of law.
Background: Sabinus explained that his dad always expected him to study law, but after missing admission, he pivoted to Linguistics and Communication Studies at the University of Port Harcourt. That was when he noticed his knack for making skits.
The blow-back: After graduation, Sabinus initially hid his comedy ambition. But when his father eventually saw his name on posters and his sisters confirmed what he was doing, his dad was furious calling skit-making a “stupid business” and regretting his educational investment.
