A 39-year-old man, identified as Chukwuemeka Aniawona, has reportedly died in a suspected hit-and-run incident just hours before he was due to board a flight.
The news was shared by a social media user, Candy, on X (formerly Twitter). According to her post, the man’s lifeless body was found along Airport Road, with his belongings scattered nearby.
Candy stated that Chukwuemeka was meant to check in for his EgyptAir flight around 8 a.m. for a scheduled 2 p.m. departure when the tragedy occurred.
She added that the man’s phone was missing, suggesting it may have been stolen after the incident. A video she shared showed his international passport and personal items lying on the ground.
The passport identified him as a native of Aba, in Nigeria’s South-East region, born on October 27, 1985.
In a follow-up post, Candy said the victim’s backpack was torn, his clothes scattered, and parts of the vehicle involved in the collision were found at the scene.
“I saw a male body lying lifeless today on Airport Road. It was likely a hit-and-run incident. He was to check in for his flight by 8 a.m. via EgyptAir. His phone wasn’t in sight, so it must’ve been stolen. His backpack was torn, and his clothes were scattered on the floor,” she wrote.
Police are yet to release an official statement on the incident.
