Nollywood mourns as actor and producer Kayode Peters dies in Canada

Popular Nigerian actor and producer, Kayode Peters, has passed away in Canada.

Peters, widely known for his role as Koko in the sitcom Flatmates, died on Friday, June 28, 2025, after battling a prolonged illness. He was said to have breathed his last in the early hours of the morning in Toronto.

The news of his passing was confirmed in a statement released by his family, which described him as a “cherished son, husband, father, brother, and friend,” as well as a “gifted filmmaker, actor and producer whose work inspired many.”

“KP braved, challenged, and conquered a long-time illness until his last breath this morning,” the statement read.

“Beyond his talent, it was his kindness, warmth, and generous spirit that truly defined him. He touched countless lives, both on and off the screen, and will be deeply missed.”

The family has asked for privacy as they make funeral arrangements, adding that further details will be announced in due time.

His colleagues in the entertainment industry have taken to social media to express shock and sadness over his death, with many describing him as a dedicated professional and a kind-hearted individual.

Kayode Peters was a respected figure in Nollywood, known not only for his acting roles but also for producing numerous television series and stage plays that contributed to the growth of Nigerian entertainment.
