Rapper and YBNL boss, Olamide, has responded to the backlash that followed his recent claim that Wizkid is the greatest Afrobeats artiste of all time. He made the statement earlier in the week while speaking to students at York University in Toronto.

His comment quickly stirred heated arguments online, with fans of Davido and Burna Boy accusing him of taking sides in the ongoing rivalry among the top stars.

Reacting in a post on Thursday, Olamide said the outrage was unnecessary and insisted he never meant to disrespect or reduce anyone’s achievements.

“Honestly, this whole three-way argument is unnecessary,” he wrote. “You can’t reduce anyone’s greatness, whether they’re A-list or B-list. People are free to support whoever they like. There is enough space for everyone.”

He explained that Burna Boy, Davido, and Wizkid are too successful and too focused to be bothered by one person’s opinion.

“Burna, David, and Wiz are not narrow-minded. They won’t get upset over someone’s viewpoint. That mindset is part of why they are successful today,” he added.

Olamide’s response comes as fans continue to debate his ranking of the Afrobeats giants across social media.
