Nigeria’s red-hot striker, Victor Osimhen, once again rose to the occasion as Galatasaray edged Juventus in a dramatic extra-time clash to secure a 7–5 aggregate victory and progress to the round of 16 of the UEFA Champions League.
Despite arriving in Turin with a comfortable 5–2 first-leg advantage, the Turkish champions were dragged into a tense battle after Juventus staged a fierce comeback on home soil.
Manuel Locatelli opened the scoring from the penalty spot before Federico Gatti and Weston McKennie added further goals to wipe out Galatasaray’s lead and level the tie at 5–5 on aggregate, forcing the contest into extra time.
But when it mattered most, Osimhen delivered.
In the 106th minute, Baris Alper Yilmaz picked out the Nigerian forward with a perfectly weighted pass, and the Super Eagles star kept his composure to slot home the decisive goal, restoring Galatasaray’s aggregate lead and silencing the home crowd.
Juventus threw everything forward in search of a late response, but Galatasaray held firm, with Yilmaz adding another in the 119th minute to seal a 3–2 win on the night.
Galatasaray advance to the Champions League round of 16 at the expense of the Italian giants.
