Nigerian singer Peter Okoye has accused his twin brother, Paul Okoye, popularly known as Rudeboy, of repeatedly taking advantage of public criticism to attack and embarrass him.
The latest clash between the former P-Square members followed the backlash Peter received over his controversial comment about Nigerian languages.
Peter had sparked outrage online after responding to a fan with the question: “Who Naija language help?”
The statement attracted widespread criticism, with many Nigerians accusing the singer of disrespecting the country’s indigenous languages and culture.
Rudeboy distances himself from Peter’s remark
Reacting to the controversy, Rudeboy appeared to distance himself from his brother’s position through a series of posts on X.
He wrote: “I’m a ‘nobody’. I repeat! A nobody! Without the culture, native, language.”
His comments were widely interpreted as a direct response to Peter’s statement and further intensified the criticism surrounding the singer.
However, Peter accused Rudeboy of deliberately using the controversy to damage his image.
“But again, bro, you’re at it again, using this moment as another opportunity to pull me down,” Peter said.
“Just like I wrote in my open letter two years ago, doing everything possible to make people hate me will never work.”
Peter admits mistake but condemns brother’s action
Peter acknowledged that Nigerians had the right to criticise him over his controversial statement.
He, however, accused his twin brother of twisting his words and joining those attacking him online.
“Yes, people are dragging me over my statement, and that is okay. I accept that,” he said.
“But deliberately twisting my words and using petty tactics to damage my reputation says a lot.
“I don’t know why you look for every opportunity to make derisive comments or jump on the bandwagon whenever I am being attacked.”
The latest exchange adds another chapter to the long-running disagreement between the twin brothers, whose celebrated music partnership as P-Square has repeatedly collapsed over personal and professional differences.
