Achraf Hakimi is set for a legal battle in France over a rape allegation dating back to 2023.
The defender, who plays for Paris Saint-Germain and the Morocco national team, has strongly denied the accusation.
The prosecutor’s office in Nanterre had opened an investigation after the allegation was made, but officials are yet to provide further comments on the case.
Reacting in a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Tuesday, Hakimi maintained his innocence.
“Today, a rape accusation is enough to justify a trial, even though I deny it and everything proves it’s false,” he wrote.
He added that the situation is unfair to both innocent individuals and real victims, stressing that he remains calm and ready to face trial, where he believes the truth will prevail.
Authorities in France are yet to issue additional updates on the matter.
