Veteran Nollywood actor Richard Mofe-Damijo (RMD) has expressed his discomfort with being referred to as a “legend.” In a recent interview on Curiosity Made Me Ask, RMD stated that he considers the title a “scam” and believes it should be reserved for industry pioneers like Olu Jacobs and Pete Edochie.

“I think all those legend things are a scam. I have my legends like Uncle Olu Jacobs and Uncle Peter; those are our ancestors, our legends,” he said. He further explained that being called a legend makes him feel like an old man nearing retirement, a notion he does not subscribe to.

RMD’s candid remarks have sparked conversations about the use of honorary titles in the entertainment industry and how they impact the individuals they are bestowed upon.
