Afrobeat singer Seun Kuti has said he would not leave his wife if she were unfaithful, arguing that infidelity alone would not be enough for him to end his marriage.
Kuti expressed the view while speaking about marriage, relationships and the way couples react when one partner cheats.
According to the singer, cheating does not carry the same weight for him that it does for many people who see infidelity as an automatic reason to end a relationship.
“If my wife cheats on me, I won’t leave her because it doesn’t mean anything,” Kuti said.
His comment reflects a personal position on marriage that differs from the expectations commonly attached to fidelity in many relationships.
Kuti also criticised what he described as the attitude of some African men towards cheating, suggesting that some people treat infidelity as though it is completely unusual in relationships.
“African men are forming as if cheating isn’t a normal thing in a relationship,” he said.
The musician did not suggest that every couple should adopt his position, but his comments made clear that he does not regard cheating as an issue that would automatically bring his own marriage to an end.
His remarks add to broader public conversations around fidelity, forgiveness and the expectations couples set within their relationships.
Different couples often establish their own boundaries regarding trust and commitment, and Kuti’s comments highlight how individual attitudes towards infidelity can vary considerably.
Seun Kuti speaks about family and inheritance
During the same discussion, Kuti also addressed the issue of family ties and who he believes should have access to his property.
The singer named his sister’s child as the relative he considers his “real blood”, saying that person would be entitled to access his properties.
“The only person that can have access to my properties is my sister’s child because that’s the real blood,” he said.
His statement introduced another personal perspective on family relationships, inheritance and blood ties.
Kuti, who is known for speaking openly about social and personal issues, has frequently attracted attention for views that challenge conventional expectations.
His latest comments are likely to generate debate among fans and social media users, particularly because infidelity remains a sensitive subject in conversations about marriage and long-term relationships.
While some people consider cheating an immediate breach of trust that can justify ending a relationship, others may choose reconciliation depending on the circumstances and the boundaries established by the couple.
Kuti’s position, however, is specific to his own relationship and reflects how he personally views the issue.
The Afrobeat singer did not indicate that his wife had cheated on him. His comments were framed around how he would respond if such a situation occurred.
The remarks therefore represent his stated attitude toward a hypothetical case of infidelity rather than a disclosure of an incident within his marriage.
Beyond the conversation about cheating, his comments on property and family also showed the importance he places on blood relationships when considering who should benefit from what he owns.
Kuti’s statements have once again placed his views on marriage and family in the public spotlight, adding to ongoing discussions about how individuals define loyalty, commitment and family responsibility.
