British-Nigerian rapper Joseph Adenuga, popularly known as Skepta, has expressed deep concern over the escalating level of injustice and security challenges facing Nigeria. Speaking in a video broadcast that quickly went viral across various social media platforms, the Bad Energy hitmaker made a passionate plea to global celebrities, activists, and the wider international community. He urged global stakeholders to stand in solidarity with Nigerians and help draw international attention to the country’s ongoing internal struggles.

The award-winning artist revealed that the sudden motivation behind his public address came after his smartphone surfaced a past memory of his active participation in the historic End SARS protests. Reflecting on the demonstration, Skepta lamented that despite the passage of time, the deep-seated societal issues and injustices that initially sparked the nationwide protests still heavily persist. He pledged to consistently use his massive personal platform including his live musical concerts, verbal statements, and visual imagery to advocate for social justice at all times.

Rapper highlights local resilience while pleading for global solidarity

Skepta pointed out that while the citizens of Nigeria are globally recognized for their legendary resilience and ability to make difficult situations look good, they have been quietly enduring these systemic hardships for far too long. He emphasized that even the most resilient populations reach a breaking point and eventually require external advocacy and physical protection.
“Nigerians need help. We need people to speak up for us as well. We need to protect Nigerians. There is so much injustice in Nigeria.”

The music icon further argued that Nigerians have historically been among the first to show solidarity and voice their support for global humanitarian crises in nations such as the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Sudan, Lebanon, Iran, Cuba, and Gaza. Because of this innate global empathy, he urged the rest of the world to reciprocate the favor and amplify the current plight of the West African nation. His vulnerable broadcast has successfully reignited crucial public conversations online regarding human rights and political accountability across Nigeria.
