World record holder in the women’s 100m hurdles, Tobi Amusan, has dedicated her silver medal at the 2025 World Athletics Championships to her fans, coaches, and support team.
Amusan ran 12.29s to finish second behind Switzerland’s Ditaji Kambundji, who won gold with a national record of 12.24s. America’s Grace Stark took bronze in 12.34s.
The medal is Amusan’s first at a major global event since winning her third Diamond League crown in 2023. Since then, she missed out on the final at the Paris 2024 Olympics and failed to defend her world title in Budapest.
Celebrating her podium finish, the 28-year-old wrote on Instagram: “To my coaches, who have pushed me beyond my limits and believed in me even when I doubted myself, your guidance and expertise have been invaluable. This Golden Silver symbolises our collective efforts.”
She also thanked her trainers, therapists, nutritionists, family, friends, and fans whom she calls her TobiXpress FanMily, for their support. “This Golden Silver is for all of us,” she said.
Amusan’s medal is Nigeria’s 12th in World Championships history. She also joins Ese Brume and Blessing Okagbare as the only Nigerians to win two medals at the competition.
