Nollywood actor Uzor Arukwe has addressed criticisms regarding his portrayal of ‘Odogwu Paranran’ in the film ‘Love in Every Word,’ emphasizing that providing for one’s partner is a mark of responsibility, not simping.

The film, co-starring BamBam, has sparked discussions among viewers, with some suggesting that the depiction of affluent Igbo men as overly indulgent sets unrealistic expectations. One viewer commented, “Anambra men are not simps. Your movie is liked only by ladies who have always had the illusion of an ‘odogwu’ that’ll spend his last dime on them.”

In response, Arukwe stated, “Taking care of your woman and spending money on her doesn’t make you a simp. It only makes you a responsible man. How else do you show love to your partner if you can’t take care of their needs from the abundance of your wealth?”

His remarks have ignited conversations about the dynamics of financial responsibility and affection in relationships, challenging the notion that generosity equates to weakness.
