English Premier League side Fulham are on the verge of completing a permanent transfer for Nigerian centre-back Chibuike Nwaiwu from Turkish outfit Trabzonspor.

According to reports from Sky Sport, the London club has already launched an opening bid of €27 million for the 22-year-old international. While Trabzonspor are holding out for a €30 million valuation, both clubs are reportedly close to finding middle ground, with a formal agreement expected to be finalized early next week. Upon the completion of the deal, Nwaiwu is anticipated to sign a four-year contract at Craven Cottage.

From Austria to Turkey: Nwaiwu’s rapid rise

Nwaiwu’s impending move to England caps off a meteoric rise for the young defender. He only joined Trabzonspor in January of this year following a transfer from Austrian club Wolfsberger AC.

Despite his short time in Turkey, the Nigerian international instantly cemented his place in the starting lineup. He became an indispensable asset for the “Black Sea Storm,” ultimately playing a pivotal role in anchoring their defense during their successful run to lifting the Turkish Cup.
