Popular Nigerian streamer and skit maker, Carter Efe, has revealed why he stopped attending church, saying his experiences with some churchgoers changed his perspective.

Speaking during an interview on The Honest Bunch, the content creator, whose real name is Oderhohwo Joseph Efe, said he began to notice what he described as “malicious” behaviour among certain Christians.

“I used to go to church but I stopped because I noticed that a lot of churchgoers are very malicious,” he said.

Carter Efe cited an instance involving fellow skit maker Sidney Talker, who he said attends church regularly but once advised him to quit streaming at a time his career was gaining momentum.

“For example, Sidney Talker goes to church consistently yet he advised me to quit streaming. I see that as malicious advice,” he stated.

He also claimed that Sidney had advised him to distance himself from his associate, Kolu, and even suggested giving him N1 million to leave, over fears linked to his former boss, singer Portable.

“He said I should discharge Kolu because his former boss Portable has juju and could attack me. I wonder why Sidney Talker is afraid of juju despite his consistency in church,” Carter Efe said.

According to him, the advice did not sit well with him, especially as his streaming career was beginning to grow.

“What reason would you have to tell me to calm down? It seemed malicious to me,” he added.

The streamer also disclosed that he battled depression before venturing fully into streaming, noting that the online platform eventually gave him a sense of purpose.
