Lady Gaga shocked fans on Wednesday night after postponing her Miami Mayhem Ball show just minutes before she was due to perform.
The 39-year-old pop star said her doctor and vocal coach advised her not to go on stage because of “a significant risk” of damage to her vocal cords.
“Hi everyone, I am really so so sorry but I need to postpone tonight’s show in Miami,” Gaga wrote on Instagram Stories. “My voice was extremely strained during rehearsal yesterday and again today during warmup.”
The singer explained that although the decision was “hard and agonizing,” she could not risk long-term damage to her voice. “You know I sing live every night — and even though this was a hard decision, I would be more afraid of the long-term implications on my voice,” she said.
The concert was scheduled for Kaseya Center in Miami. The venue later confirmed the cancellation, adding that new dates and refund details would be announced soon.
Lady Gaga, who is on her Mayhem Ball tour, has been praised for her emotional and high-energy shows. Just last week, she broke down in tears during her New York performance while reflecting on her career journey and sharing a pep talk from her fiancé, Michael Polansky.
