Nollywood actress Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde has spoken on marriage and family relationships, saying it is important for spouses to build good relationships with their in-laws.
The actress made the remark while speaking during an interview with media personality Morayo Afolabi-Brown, where she discussed the realities of marriage and the role extended families play in building a stable home.
According to her, acceptance from a spouse’s family can help reduce tension in marriage, while lack of support can make an already challenging union more difficult.
She advised couples to make deliberate efforts to build understanding with their in-laws, noting that family dynamics can strongly influence the success of a marriage.
“I will advise that if the families of the spouse don’t like you, try everything you possibly can to make them understand you. But there are some parents that are hell-bent on not liking you regardless of what you do, they already have a prejudice. Marriage is already hard, and starting without love and support only makes the journey tougher,” she said.
The 48-year-old actress is married and has four children.
