Afrobeats giants Wizkid and Ayra Starr have once again proven Nigeria’s global dominance in music after securing major wins at the 2026 MOBO Awards and the internet can’t stop talking about it.

The prestigious ceremony, held in Manchester to mark its 30th anniversary, saw both stars rise above intense global competition to take home some of the night’s biggest honours.

Wizkid clinched the Best African Music Act award, beating heavyweights like Davido, Rema, Tiwa Savage, and Adekunle Gold  a win that further cements his long-standing influence in the global music scene.

Meanwhile, Ayra Starr made history (again) by winning Best International Act, defeating global stars including Cardi B, Gunna, and Kehlani. This marks her second consecutive win in the category, reinforcing her fast-growing international dominance.

The wins didn’t just stop at individual achievements they highlight the unstoppable rise of Afrobeats on the global stage. Both artists led a strong Nigerian presence at the awards, alongside other nominees and winners of Nigerian descent.

Fans have since flooded social media with reactions, celebrating the duo for “carrying Nigeria on their backs” and continuing to break barriers internationally.

From Lagos to the world, this isn’t just another win — it’s a loud reminder that Afrobeats isn’t slowing down anytime soon… it’s only getting bigger.
