Nigerian actress and reality TV star Ijeoma Josephina Otabor, popularly known as Phyna, has responded to critics who questioned her decision to undergo cosmetic surgery following her Big Brother Naija (BBNaija) stint.
The reality star argued that financial capacity, rather than personal choice, often drives opinions about cosmetic procedures. She suggested that critics would make similar choices if they had the means.
“You always say once someone wins Big Brother or goes on the show, they start doing things to their body. My dear, if you had money, do you know what you would do? Imagine you had ₦20 million you’re not even using as a woman, you would go and have surgery. Don’t let anybody deceive you. It’s because you are broke. Even me, I admit it’s because of money… My sister, it’s the money you don’t have that’s why you’re criticizing it,” Phyna stated.
Her comments have sparked renewed debate on the influence of financial freedom and societal perceptions of body modification, highlighting how economic resources often shape public discourse on personal choices.
