AC Milan are ready to raise their offer to sign 19-year-old right-back Zachary Athekame from Swiss club Young Boys, after their initial bid of €7 million was turned down.
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, who shared the update on X (formerly Twitter), Young Boys informed Milan on Sunday morning that they want more than €7 million to release the promising defender.
Despite the negotiation setback, Athekame is reportedly keen on joining the Serie A giants and has made it clear that he only wants a move to Milan.
The Swiss-Nigerian youngster, born in Switzerland to Nigerian parents, currently plays for Young Boys' first team and the Switzerland U21 national team. He is known for his speed, ball control, and attacking runs from the right flank.
Milan, who are looking to add more depth and youth to their squad, see Athekame as a long-term investment. Talks between both clubs are expected to continue in the coming days.
