AFCON 2025: 11 players in Super Eagles camp, 12 more expected

The Super Eagles’ camp in Cairo has received 11 players ahead of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.

The latest arrival is FC Porto left-back, Zaidu Sanusi, who joined the players already in camp on Monday.

Goalkeepers Stanley Nwabali, Francis Uzoho, and Amas Obasogie are among the early arrivals. Others include Fisayo Dele-Bashiru, Ebenezer Akinsanmiro, Semi Ajayi, Ademola Lookman, Bright Osayi-Samuel, Igho Ogbu, and Tochukwu Nnadi.

Twelve more players are expected to arrive later on Monday.

The team will hold its first training session at 8 p.m. local time at the main bowl of the Cairo International Stadium.

Members of the coaching crew and backroom staff are already in camp.

The Super Eagles will play Egypt in an international friendly on Tuesday, December 16, at the Cairo Stadium as part of their AFCON preparations.

After the friendly, the team will travel to Fes, Morocco, where they will be based for the group stage of the tournament.

Nigeria is drawn in Group C alongside Tunisia, Tanzania, and Uganda.

The Eagles will open their campaign against Tanzania on December 23. They will then face Tunisia four days later before rounding off the group stage against Uganda.
