Award-winning Canadian singer, Celine Dion, is set to return to the stage in France nearly nine years after her last major performances in the country, following her battle with Stiff Person Syndrome (SPS).

The 57-year-old music icon is reportedly billed to perform a series of concerts at the Paris La Défense Arena in Nanterre between September and October, marking her first major stage comeback since her diagnosis with the rare neurological disorder.

Dion last performed in France in 2017, before her scheduled return in 2020 was disrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic and later cancelled due to health challenges linked to SPS, a condition that causes muscle stiffness and painful spasms.

Her comeback has been hinted at by the appearance of promotional posters across Paris bearing titles of her hit songs, including The Power of Love and My Heart Will Go On.

The planned shows are expected to hold twice weekly, drawing thousands of fans to what could become one of the most anticipated music events of the year.

Dion had, in 2022, revealed her diagnosis, explaining that the condition affected her ability to walk and sing. However, she has since expressed determination to return to performing, saying she is working tirelessly to regain her strength and vocal capacity.

Despite her health struggles, the singer delivered a memorable performance at the opening ceremony of the Paris 2024 Olympics, reaffirming her enduring presence on the global stage.

Her expected return in France is widely seen as a significant milestone in her recovery and a testament to her resilience.
