Senegalese-American singer Akon recently described his musical collaboration with the late Michael Jackson as his proudest career achievement.

The music star shared these thoughts during a recent appearance on the popular We Need To Talk podcast. Despite achieving massive global fame before meeting the pop legend, Akon stated that he felt like a mere child next to Jackson.

The artist explained that he grew up looking up to the late singer as a universal idol and role model. He treasures a specific photograph taken with Jackson above all other possessions in his professional life. This experience remains a defining point for his identity as an international entertainer.

The 53-year-old musician also discussed his long-standing commitment to promoting African artists on the global stage. Akon highlighted his early efforts to support Nigerian Afrobeats stars by bringing them into his record label setup. He specifically mentioned his past partnerships with the famous duo P-Square and the megastar Wizkid.

He clarified that he partner-signed Wizkid through Banky W and the Empire Mates Entertainment record label. Akon praised the intelligence of Nigerian creatives and celebrated their current dominance in the global music industry. The veteran singer believes that African music will continue to break boundaries due to this immense talent.
