Nollywood actress Angela Okorie has opened up about what she described as a life-changing experience following her visit to the Suleja Correctional Centre, where she donated food items and medical supplies to inmates and children born inside the facility.

The actress shared photos and videos from the outreach on her Instagram page, showing her distributing welfare and healthcare materials to women and their children within the correctional centre.

Okorie explained that her return to the facility was inspired by lessons she learned during her brief stay there, saying the experience altered her perception of correctional centres.

“I want to share a deeply personal experience that has profoundly changed my perspective on life. During my recent brief stay at Suleja Correctional Centre, I discovered that such places are not always as harsh and unforgiving as many imagine. My time there taught me invaluable lessons about strength, resilience, hope, and humanity,” she wrote.

According to the actress, she was particularly moved by the condition of children living in the facility with their mothers, noting that some inmates were pregnant before incarceration and gave birth inside the prison.

She said many of the children lack adequate medication and proper welfare support.

“One thing that really touched me was the children born inside the prison… I learned about a pressing need for medications and proper welfare for them. I knew I had to do something,” she added.

Okorie disclosed that the donations were funded through her personal resources and foundation, stressing that giving back remains central to her values and faith.
