Barcelona president Joan Laporta has set his sights on Erling Haaland as the club’s next star striker, with Robert Lewandowski expected to leave when his contract ends on June 30, 2026, El Nacional reported.

Lewandowski remains important this season, scoring twice against Valencia after coming off the bench. But he is no longer able to play every match, with coach Hans-Dieter Flick giving him rest. Ferran Torres has stepped up with strong performances, showing he can deliver on the big stage.

With Lewandowski likely heading to Saudi Arabia, Barcelona needs a new central striker. The technical team has reportedly favored Julián Álvarez, with Deco opening preliminary talks to bring him from Atlético Madrid.

Laporta, however, is focused on Haaland. Since returning as president, the Norwegian forward has been his priority. Laporta believes Haaland’s style and finishing make him the ideal successor to Lewandowski, capable of leading Barça’s attack and handling the pressures of being the team’s main striker.

Financial constraints previously blocked a move for Haaland before he joined Manchester City, but Laporta has been monitoring his progress. He is optimistic that if City struggles in the coming seasons, Haaland could request a transfer to Camp Nou.

The pursuit of Haaland signals a bold attacking overhaul for 2026, with Laporta determined to secure the striker who can shape Barcelona’s future.
