Former world champions Mike Tyson and Floyd Mayweather are set to face each other in an exhibition fight next year.
The bout will be organised by CSI Sports/Fight Sports, but the date, venue, broadcasting details, and rules are yet to be announced.
Tyson, 59, is a former undisputed heavyweight champion, while Mayweather, 48, retired undefeated after 50 fights and multiple world titles across different weight divisions.
“This fight is something neither the world nor I ever thought would happen. Boxing has entered a new era of the unpredictable, and this is as unpredictable as it gets,” Tyson said.
Tyson last fought in November when he came out of retirement after 19 years to face Jake Paul, losing in a controversial match. He ended his professional career with 50 wins in 59 fights, all at heavyweight.
Mayweather, who won titles in five weight classes, has been active in exhibition fights since retiring in 2017. His most recent was against John Gotti III in August.
Exhibition fights usually have no official winners and do not affect fighters’ career records.
“You already know that if I am going to do something, it’s going to be big and legendary,” Mayweather said. “This exhibition will give the fans what they want.”
