Borussia Dortmund have completed the signing of England U21 international Carney Chukwuemeka from Chelsea in a deal worth around £24 million.
The 21-year-old midfielder, who spent last season on loan at the Bundesliga side, impressed sufficiently to earn a permanent five-year contract at Signal Iduna Park.
Chukwuemeka originally joined Chelsea from Aston Villa in 2022 but struggled to nail down a consistent role, registering just 32 appearances in two years at Stamford Bridge.
Dortmund have also secured a season-long loan for Blues defender Aaron Anselmino, further strengthening their squad ahead of the new campaign.
The double exit pushes Chelsea’s summer sales beyond £270m, as the club scrambles to stay within UEFA’s financial fair play parameters after splashing nearly £277m on fresh signings.
Pressure remains on the London club to trim their squad, with Nicolas Jackson, Christopher Nkunku, Raheem Sterling and Ben Chilwell all facing uncertain futures before Monday’s deadline.
