Cubana Chief Priest has reacted strongly to the life sentence handed to IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu by the Federal High Court in Abuja. On his Instagram page, he warned President Bola Tinubu that his support in the South-East could collapse if Kanu remains in detention.

President @officialasiwajubat, as long as MNK remains in jail, you cannot and will never get up to 10,000 votes in the South-East in 2027,” Cubana Chief Priest wrote. He described Kanu as the “supreme leader of the South-East” and said his detention has caused significant setbacks for the region.

In the post, Cubana Chief Priest criticised South-East ministers, saying they have failed to advise the president properly and called them “cowards.” He warned that governors from the region would also disappoint the president if the situation is not addressed.

Addressing the governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodinma, he urged him to take action to secure Kanu’s release, warning that the president’s achievements in the region could be undermined if the sentence is not challenged. “Without MNK outside, everything shall fall into pieces,” he wrote, urging the governor to appeal the judgment.

Cubana Chief Priest concluded by stressing that the South-East belongs to Kanu, and any misstep could have political consequences for the president ahead of the 2027 elections.
