Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma has confirmed he is leaving the club, saying he is “disappointed and disheartened” by the decision.
In a heartfelt message to PSG fans, the 25-year-old Italian said he gave his best “on and off the pitch” from the day he arrived, but “someone has decided” he can no longer be part of the team.
“I hope to have the opportunity to look the fans at the Parc des Princes in the eyes one more time and say goodbye as it should be done,” Donnarumma wrote. “If that doesn’t happen, I want you to know that your support and affection mean the world to me, and I will never forget it.”
He thanked his teammates, describing them as his “second family” and “brothers,” and said playing for PSG and living in Paris had been “an immense honour.”
Donnarumma joined PSG from AC Milan in 2021 and won multiple trophies with the club, including Ligue 1 titles. His next destination has not yet been confirmed.
