Liverpool are preparing to make a fresh move for Alexander Isak as new manager Arne Slot continues his search for a top striker ahead of the 2025/26 season.

The Reds are targeting the Newcastle United forward following the exits of Darwin Nunez and Luis Diaz.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reports that Liverpool are ready to increase their offer after their initial bid of £110 million was turned down on August 1.

Isak, 25, has been one of the Premier League’s standout attackers since joining Newcastle from Real Sociedad in 2022. Known for his pace, movement, and finishing ability, he scored 27 goals in 42 games across all competitions last season.

Newcastle boss Eddie Howe has repeatedly said the Swedish striker is key to the club’s Champions League push. However, the Magpies may face pressure to sell if a huge offer arrives, given the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules.

Speaking after Newcastle’s pre-season defeat to Atletico Madrid, Howe admitted “everything is in play” regarding Isak’s future, although he stressed the striker is currently not part of his plans.

Isak has been struggling with a minor thigh injury and missed Newcastle’s pre-season tour of Asia. He trained separately at former club Real Sociedad before returning to England last week. He is also expected to miss Newcastle’s Premier League opener against Aston Villa on Saturday.
