Nigeria’s men’s basketball team, D’Tigers, finished in fifth place at the 2025 FIBA AfroBasket tournament held in Angola.
The host nation, Angola, defeated Mali 70–43 in the final to win their 12th AfroBasket crown. The victory, their first since 2013, also extended their record as the most successful team in the competition.
D’Tigers, who topped Group B with wins over Madagascar, Tunisia and Cameroon, were knocked out in the quarter-finals after losing 91–75 to Senegal. They later secured fifth place with three wins from four games.
Senegal went on to claim bronze, while Cameroon placed fourth. The final standings had Angola in first place, Mali second, Nigeria fifth, and Egypt sixth. Ivory Coast and Cape Verde completed the top eight.
D’Tigers will return to action in November for the FIBA Men’s World Cup Qualifiers as they chase a ticket to the 2027 edition in Qatar, having missed out in 2023.
