Teenage midfielder Ethan Nwaneri has signed a new long-term deal with Arsenal, the club confirmed on Friday.

The 17-year-old, who joined the Gunners at the age of eight, has progressed through the club’s Hale End Academy and is now seen as one of the brightest young talents in English football.

Nwaneri made history in 2022 when he became the youngest player to feature in a Premier League match at just 15 years and 181 days. Since then, he has grown in confidence, making 37 senior appearances last season, scoring nine goals in all competitions.

He scored his first senior goals in the League Cup against Bolton and Preston, and got his first Premier League goal against Nottingham Forest. In January, he became only the third player—after Michael Owen and Wayne Rooney—to score three Premier League goals before turning 18. He also opened his Champions League account with a stunning goal against Girona.

That goal earned him Arsenal’s Goal of the Month, and he was also named Player of the Month for February after another standout performance in a 5-1 win over Manchester City.

Nwaneri also made his England U-18 debut on his 18th birthday in May and was part of the England squad that won the UEFA U-21 Championship in June 2025.

Reacting to his new contract, Nwaneri said: “Signing this contract means everything to me. I see this as my first real season in men’s senior football. I want to help us win and bring glory to the club. This is where I feel at home.”

Arsenal added that the new deal is subject to the completion of the usual regulatory processes.
