Former Manchester United and England midfielder, Jesse Lingard, has confirmed he will leave FC Seoul next week after two seasons in the K League.

Lingard, 32, joined the Korean side in February last year in a surprise move and made over 60 appearances, although he failed to win any trophy.

His final match for the club will be their AFC Champions League clash against Melbourne City on December 10.

FC Seoul said the player expressed a desire to “move on to the next stage” of his career, but he has not revealed his next destination.

Lingard, who spent 22 years at Manchester United before leaving Old Trafford in 2022, wrote on social media that the decision to leave was difficult.

“My time in South Korea has been unbelievable — the football, the atmosphere and the passion have been top class,” he said.

The midfielder had a slow start in Seoul, battling injury and criticism from his coach, but later became captain and helped the club finish in the top half of the table in both seasons.

He thanked FC Seoul’s staff, team-mates and supporters for their love and backing, saying he would always remain grateful.

The club praised the 32-cap England international for drawing huge attention to the K League and wished him well in his future career.
