Nollywood actor and filmmaker Femi Adebayo has announced plans to produce a sequel to his directorial debut, Seven Doors, following the success and recognition received by the series.
Adebayo revealed the development while discussing his filmmaking process during an interview on VJ Adams Live, where he explained how he prepares before working on new projects.
The actor said he often revisits his previous films after release to evaluate his work and identify areas where improvements can be made.
According to him, he is currently rewatching Seven Doors ahead of its sequel, just as he did before creating follow-up projects to some of his other films.
“I watch my movies after they’ve been released, especially when I want to produce another one. For instance, before I produced the sequel to Jagun Jagun, I watched the original, same as Ageshinkole. Now I’m planning to do a sequel to Seven Doors, so I keep watching the original to do better,” Adebayo said.
He added that audience reactions, including both positive and negative reviews, also help shape his decisions when developing future projects.
“I also go to read people’s comments, good or bad, on my movies because it helps me decide what to do better,” he said.

The six-part miniseries Seven Doors was released in December 2024 and went on to receive nominations and awards at major Nigerian film ceremonies.
The production recorded success at the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA), where it won the Best Lead Actor and Best Lead Actress categories in 2025.
The series also performed strongly at the Best of Nollywood (BON) Awards, winning four categories, including Best Production Design, Best Special Effect, Best Series and Best Cinematography.
The recognition helped strengthen Adebayo’s reputation as both an actor and filmmaker, with Seven Doors becoming one of the notable productions from the Nigerian film industry in recent years.
Adebayo’s approach to filmmaking involves studying previous works and audience feedback before creating new projects, a process he said helps him improve storytelling and production quality.
The planned sequel will continue the journey of a project that has already received significant attention from viewers and industry stakeholders.
Although details about the storyline, cast and release date of the Seven Doors sequel have not been announced, Adebayo’s comments indicate that development work is already underway.
The filmmaker’s announcement adds to the growing trend of successful Nollywood productions receiving follow-up projects as audiences continue to show interest in expanded stories and returning characters.
