The Ghana Football Association has dismissed head coach Otto Addo, just over 10 weeks before the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The decision was announced on Tuesday, hours after Ghana’s 2-1 defeat to Germany national football team in an international friendly played in Stuttgart. The hosts secured victory with a late goal from Deniz Undav.

The loss marked Ghana’s fourth consecutive defeat, following a heavy 5-1 loss to Austria the previous week, raising concerns over the team’s form ahead of the global tournament.

In a brief statement, the GFA thanked Addo for his service, saying: “The association wishes to thank Otto Addo sincerely for his contribution to the team and wishes him the best in his future endeavours.”

The football body added that it will announce a new technical direction for the Black Stars in due course.

Addo, 50, was appointed in March 2024 and had been tasked with rebuilding the team ahead of the World Cup.

Ghana is drawn in a tough group alongside England, Croatia and Panama for the tournament, which will be held in North America later this year.
