J. Cole cancelled his scheduled concert in Sacramento, California, on Thursday night after a member of his touring crew died in a highway crash while transporting equipment for the rapper’s tour.
The concert at Sacramento’s Golden 1 Center was called off just hours before Cole was due to perform after a big-rig truck carrying tour equipment was involved in a fatal crash on Interstate 5 in Yolo County.
The California Highway Patrol said the truck overturned on southbound I-5 near Woodland early Thursday morning, killing the driver.
The crash involved equipment being transported for Cole’s The Fall-Off World Tour, which is supporting his upcoming album and touring plans.
Cole’s Dreamville Records announced the cancellation, expressing condolences to the crew member’s family and loved ones following what it described as a tragic trucking accident.

The fatal crash occurred while equipment for the concert was being transported to the Sacramento area.

Reports identified the deceased crew member as Jarlath Parkinson, 66, of Jackson, South Carolina. He was reportedly behind the wheel of the truck when the accident occurred.

Fans who purchased tickets for the cancelled Sacramento concert are expected to receive automatic refunds through Ticketmaster.
