Nollywood actor Jide Awobona has voiced growing concern over the health risks associated with filming intimate scenes without proper medical screenings for actors.
Speaking during a recent interview with Yanga FM, the actor highlighted the lack of medical checks on film sets, revealing a personal experience with a co-star that made him fearful of contracting health issues on the job.
Actor recounts uncomfortable experience on film set
Awobona shared that he once had to kiss an actress with severe bad breath while filming, leading him to wash his mouth out immediately after the scene. The incident, he noted, served as a eye-opener regarding hygiene and health standards in the industry.
When asked if he still accepts kissing roles, Awobona responded candidly in Pidgin English: “Yes, I have done it. But if you get that kind funny odor, I go japa oo. I no fit kiss you.”
Reflecting on the awkward encounter, he added: “Yes, I don act with somebody wey get mouth odor. And I go one place go wash my mouth. And the person con see me. I just dey pray make person no go contact something because I don tire.”
