Nollywood actress Jumoke Odetola has defended celebrity chef Hilda Baci following backlash over Baci’s record-breaking Jollof Rice festival.

The event, “Hilda Baci Jollof Festival”, held at Eko Hotel, Lagos, drew support from top names like Funke Akindele, Enioluwa, and Ogun State First Lady Bamidele Abiodun. While some praised the achievement, others criticized the food, saying “the Jollof no sweet.”

Odetola condemned the negativity via Instagram, describing it as “heartbreaking when greatness is overshadowed.” She questioned why people feel triggered by a woman’s success, writing, “It takes real courage to attempt something extraordinary… Instead of bashing, place your right hand on your chest and ask yourself—why am I triggered by the success of a woman making her mark?” She prayed for critics, asking God to heal them from past pains fueling bitterness.

Recall that Hilda Baci made history in 2023 with a 93-hour, 11-minute cook-a-thon certified by Guinness World Records, though her record was later surpassed by Ireland’s Alan Fisher.
