Bayern Munich’s England captain Harry Kane missed his first competitive penalty for the club but made up for it with a stoppage-time winner as the Bundesliga champions scraped past third-tier Wehen Wiesbaden in the German Cup.
Kane opened the scoring in the 16th minute with a successful penalty, extending his record to 31 consecutive spot-kicks since the 2022 World Cup.
He had another chance from the penalty spot in the 76th minute, but Wehen Wiesbaden goalkeeper Florian Stritzel saved it and then denied Kane again from a follow-up header.
At that point, the game was tied 2-2. Michael Olise had equalised after Kane’s first-half goal, and Fatih Kaya scored twice in six minutes to level the match.
Kane settled the contest in stoppage time, sending Bayern through to the next round. The draw for the second round is scheduled for Sunday.
