North Korean leader Kim Jong Un is set to attend China’s “Victory Day” military parade on September 3, marking his first international appearance since assuming power in 2011.

This event commemorates the 80th anniversary of China’s victory over Japan and the conclusion of World War II.

The parade is expected to showcase China’s latest military advancements, including aircraft, tanks, and anti-drone systems. Russian President Vladimir Putin is also scheduled to attend, joining over two dozen world leaders in Beijing.

Kim’s participation in this high-profile event underscores a significant shift in North Korea’s diplomatic engagement.

Since taking power, Kim has made several international trips, including visits to China, Russia, Vietnam, Singapore, and South Korea. Notably, in 2018, he embarked on a 15-month international travel spree, meeting with world leaders to discuss various diplomatic issues. His previous international appearances have been strategically significant, reflecting North Korea’s evolving foreign relations.
