Nigerian filmmaker and entrepreneur Kunle Afolayan has lamented the rising cost of diesel in the country, revealing that he spends about ₦11 million on fuel every four to five weeks to keep his businesses running.

The Nollywood producer made the revelation in a video shared on his social media page, where he expressed frustration over the increasing cost of diesel used to power his facilities, including the popular KAP Film Village and Resort.

According to Afolayan, despite investing in solar power for his businesses, the high cost of diesel has continued to put heavy financial pressure on his operations. He disclosed that diesel currently sells for about ₦1,500 per litre, making it extremely difficult to sustain his business activities.

The filmmaker explained that his company now spends roughly ₦11 million on diesel within just four to five weeks, a situation he described as overwhelming and unsustainable for any business owner.

He also revealed that his team sometimes has to buy diesel on credit just to keep operations running. According to him, repayment of these debts can take up to two months before they are able to purchase another supply.

Afolayan appealed to investors and well-meaning Nigerians for support, noting that he hopes to secure funding that will allow him to upgrade his solar power system and reduce reliance on diesel.

His comments come amid the ongoing surge in fuel prices across Nigeria, a development that has continued to affect businesses and households nationwide
