Fuji star Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, popularly known as KWAM 1, has sparked fresh controversy after saying he deliberately leaves clothes and shoes in the homes of former lovers so they will have something to remember him by.

The singer made the unusual disclosure in an undated video that has gone viral on social media.

Speaking in Yoruba, KWAM 1 said the practice particularly applied to women who had children for him.

“There are a lot of women I am no longer dating. I would forget clothes and shoes at their place,” he said.

“Especially if the person has a child for me, I would say they should use that to remember me.”

KWAM 1 attributed his approach to relationships and possessions to the lessons he acquired while growing up on the streets.

“That experience I used the street to gather is enormous. That was why I have lived my life successfully like this, because I do not think about things,” he said.

Paternity allegation deepens controversy

The timing of the viral footage has made the singer’s remarks more contentious, as they come days after a woman identified as Ogechi Eleana accused him of neglecting his alleged 12-year-old daughter, Azeezat.

Eleana claimed she dated the Fuji musician for more than seven years after meeting him while providing manicure, pedicure and other home services.

She alleged that KWAM 1 asked her to terminate the pregnancy after she informed him that she was expecting a child.

According to her, the singer promised to send money for the procedure through one of his aides, but the payment never arrived.

Eleana further accused the musician of failing to take paternal responsibility for the child after her birth.

KWAM 1 subsequently addressed the allegations during a stage performance, dismissing the pregnancy as “useless” and comparing it to “a free gift”.

He also sang that nobody should stress him at this stage of his life before laughing off the controversy.

The viral video has now placed renewed attention on KWAM 1’s relationships and his responsibilities towards women who claim to have children for him.
