Lionel Messi has officially signed a new contract with Inter Miami, extending his stay at the Major League Soccer club until December 2028.
The deal, which was verbally agreed upon last week, has now been formally approved by Major League Soccer (MLS), confirming the Argentine icon’s commitment to the Florida-based club for another three years.
Inter Miami announced the news on Thursday, describing Messi’s contract renewal as a “continuation of a historic chapter” both for the club and for football in the United States.
Messi, who joined Inter Miami in July 2023 after leaving Paris Saint-Germain, has transformed the club’s fortunes — leading them to their first-ever Leagues Cup title and inspiring a surge in global attention for MLS.
Since his arrival, the 38-year-old World Cup winner has scored over 40 goals and 25 assists in all competitions for Inter Miami, forming a dynamic partnership with long-time teammates Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba.
