Manchester City boosted their Premier League title charge with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over leaders Arsenal on Sunday, closing the gap to three points with a game in hand.

The clash swung City’s way early at the Etihad Stadium when Rayan Cherki fired the hosts ahead in the 16th minute after a brilliant solo effort.

Arsenal responded almost immediately, capitalising on a costly error by goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma, as Kai Havertz bundled home the equaliser less than two minutes later.

After the break, City took control, dominating possession and pinning Arsenal back in their own half.

Their pressure paid off in the 65th minute when Erling Haaland ended his goal drought with a composed finish to restore City’s lead.

City continued to threaten through Antoine Semenyo and Jeremy Doku, while Arsenal struggled to find a way back into the game.

Despite the defeat, Arsenal remain top of the table on 70 points from 33 matches, but City, on 67 points with a game in hand, could go top with a win in their next fixture.

The result piles pressure on Arsenal, who are chasing their first league title since 2004, while City look increasingly in control as the race enters its final stretch.
