Nigerian professional wrestler Oba Femi recorded a major career milestone on Sunday, defeating 10-time WWE Champion Brock Lesnar in under five minutes on his WrestleMania debut.

The bout, one of the headline fixtures at WrestleMania 42, saw the 27-year-old Nigerian overpower the seasoned veteran in a result that has since generated widespread reactions among wrestling fans.

Lesnar left his wrestling gear in the ring after the match, a symbolic act in professional wrestling often interpreted as a sign of retirement.

Femi, also known as “The Ruler,” has spent just three months on WWE’s main roster but delivered a composed and dominant performance against one of the sport’s most decorated figures.

The contest opened with both wrestlers testing each other’s strength before Lesnar gained early control with a series of offensive moves. However, Femi weathered the pressure and gradually shifted momentum in his favour.

Despite absorbing Lesnar’s signature F5, the Nigerian star quickly recovered, executing a chokeslam before sealing victory with his “Fall From Grace” sit-out powerbomb for the pinfall.

The victory has further cemented Femi’s rising profile within WWE. A former shot put athlete, he is a two-time NXT Champion and a one-time NXT North American Champion.

Born in Lagos, Femi began his athletic career in track and field before signing with WWE in 2021 through its NIL programme. He went on to win the 2023 NXT Men’s Breakout Tournament and the 2024 Men’s Iron Survivor Challenge.

In his post-match remarks, Femi also sent a message to Roman Reigns, hinting at a possible title challenge before the end of the year.
