Michael Carrick has backed Marcus Rashford to play an important role for Manchester United ahead of the new Premier League season.
Carrick said the England forward had returned to the club in good condition and remained part of his plans for the forthcoming campaign.
According to a post shared by football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano on X on Thursday, Carrick expressed confidence in Rashford’s ability to strengthen the team.
“Rashford is our player and he’s come back great,” Carrick said.
“I’ve known him a long time and he gives us something a little bit different.”

Rashford spent the 2025/26 season on loan at Barcelona after temporarily leaving Manchester United in search of regular first-team football.
The forward gained experience in Barcelona’s attacking system while competing at the highest level in Spanish and European football.
His return provides Carrick with another attacking option as Manchester United prepare for the start of the Premier League season.
Carrick’s remarks also underline his confidence in Rashford despite the uncertainty that previously surrounded the player’s future at Old Trafford.
The Manchester United boss expressed optimism about the campaign ahead, saying the team was eager to begin the new season.
Rashford will now seek to re-establish himself in the squad and translate his experience in Spain into strong performances for Manchester United.
