Michael Jackson biopic sequel is set to revisit one of the most controversial parts of the late singer’s legacy, according to his nephew Jaafar Jackson.
The actor, who portrayed the King of Pop in the first film Michael, has responded to criticism that the movie avoided difficult questions surrounding the singer’s life.
The first instalment was accused by some critics of “sanitising” Jackson’s story by focusing on his rise to fame while leaving out allegations of sexual abuse that have followed him for decades.
Jaafar has now suggested that the sequel will explore those allegations from Michael Jackson’s perspective.

Speaking to GQ Middle East, Jaafar said the second film would provide more insight into the allegations surrounding his uncle.
“I think the second film will give even more insight from his point of view, because at the end of the day, the allegations are always from someone else’s,” he said.
However, Jaafar clarified that he does not control the creative direction of the sequel, adding that the screenplay is still being developed.
Michael Jackson faced his first major allegations in the 1990s and later faced another high-profile legal battle involving accusations of child molestation. He was acquitted of all criminal charges in 2005.
The debate over Jackson’s legacy intensified again following the 2019 documentary Leaving Neverland, which featured allegations from Wade Robson and James Safechuck.
Supporters of Jackson have continued to defend him, pointing to his acquittal, while critics argue that the allegations remain an important part of conversations about his life.
The sequel is expected to reignite discussions about how Hollywood portrays controversial figures and their legacies.
